I was attracted to this photograph immediately so I'll give you 5/5 for Impact. However upon a closer look I was a bit disappointed that it's not quite in focus, or at least that is how it appears at full view. The intensity of the eyes is what makes this shot. The pose and the lighting are perfect and I love how delicate the tops of the ears appear. Black and white photos are in a sense harder to successfully achieve because it's not what most of us see with our own eyes. Something I also believe is successful about this is the lack of background. I'm guessing there was some editing involved like with most photos these days but unlike most, this picture is not kitsch despite the subject matter.
This photograph has quite a professional finish to it.
The way you've made the fur of the cat look almost "luminous" is quite attractive. The simple, pitch-black background helps to enhance the luminosity-so do the cat's eyes.
I quite like the "minimalist" aesthetic on show here.
The blurring around the outside makes the cat appear to be actually peaking out of the photograph.
Sometimes, when I write up a critique, I'm curious as to how the artist went about creating that piece of work. I'm certainly interested in this case. If, however, these are "trade secrets", I'll understand.
I'd certainly be interested in seeing some more photographs by you.
